Work on the New Peace Bridge that will link the West Bank of the Foyle to the Waterside is about to start. I have been sent a lot of pictures and I am busy converting and cropping - resizing and sharpening them so they can be included.
The time I have been able to devote to the site has sadly diminished due to work pressures and of having to help my Daughter prepare for her GCSE's. Now though, I have a little time over the next week or so to update the site as much as possible so we'll see how things look over the next 7 days.

Happy New Year to all visitors. A lot of pictures have been submitted and I will post them on the site as soon as possible.
Discussions continue with Ilex on the request for a permenent plaque to be publically placed within the Barracks complex once re - development is completed and this will be conveyed on the site as soon as possible.
Phase one of the re - development work has been approved and should commence soon. Updates to follow.

I want to thank Mo Durkan from iLEX who has helped by looking through the entire site and has pointed out mistakes and ommisions for me to correct. I want this site to be as accurate as possible and would welcome anyone contacting me to correct any mistakes or ommisions in the future.
iLEX have been doing great work restoring the original walls from the Star Fort. At night looking from the west bank of the river Foyle, the Star Fort walls are illuminated which adds to the already impressive view. If any former residents of Ebrington Barracks or HMS Sea Eagle would like to visit the site, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be happy to speak to iLEX about providing a tour for you. Groups are very welcome also.

Tomorrow marks the twentieth anniversary of the death of 6 Soldiers from Ebrington Barracks. After taking part in the Lisburn Charity Fun Run, the 6 Soldiers (5 from 8 Inf Bde & sig Sqn and 1 from 1st Bn The Green Howards) got into an unmarked Ford Transit Minibus which had been parked in Market Square during the Fun Run. As they pulled up to Traffic Lights at the corner of Market Square, a bomb exploded under the minibus killing all those aboard. To all those reading this, spare a moment to remember the lives of 6 men who were giving their time freely to raise money for Northern Ireland charities that day and who were killed because of this.
A Memorial may not exist, but those of us who knew them will carry the memories forever

I have just completed uploading new pictures submitted by visitors to the site. Thanks to ex colleagues Steve Mosley and Paddy Walsh for taking the time to email them to me. Also those who did not want their names publicised but contributed non the less. Keep sending pictures in so we can build the site up. Anonimity will be respected and I can pixelate images to disguise people's faces if they are concerned about their security prior to uploading them to the site.

I will be adding a couple of aerial shots of North Howard Street Base in Belfast which I believe has been completely demolished. I realise that it has nothing at all to do with Ebrington, but a lot of former colleagues from the Green Howards served there. If there are any further shots anyone wants to see - just email me from the links page and I'll see what I can do.

I would like to hear from anyone who has any pictures from their time spent in Ebrington Barracks over the years, or from the various Patrol Bases such as the Fort, Rosemount and Masonic. Small murals used to adorn the walls of the Patrol Bases relating to particular Regiments and I would be grateful to anyone who may have pictures of these so we can display them on a seperate page within the site. Contact me by email from the links Page if you can help.

It is with some sadness that I must report that the NAAFI block was demolished on 28th April 2008.
